John B. Sanfilippo & Son, Inc. (“JBSS”) has a long history of operating with high ethical standards and integrity. Business is conducted in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, but ethical responsibility goes beyond legal minimums.
This disclosure applies to JBSS and any of its subsidiaries that are subject to the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act.
Verification
JBSS is committed to fair labor practices within its supply chains. Subcontractors and vendors are subject to assessments or periodic inspections intended to support compliance with laws relating to employment and human rights, including prohibitions on forced labor and human trafficking.
JBSS also uses an annual supplier survey process regarding programs for helping ensure that human trafficking, forced labor, and unlawful child labor do not exist in supply chains. JBSS does not currently use third-party verifiers for this process.
Audit
JBSS does not currently conduct supplier audits specifically for compliance with trafficking and slavery standards. The annual supplier verification process requests information about independent audits of foreign suppliers’ facilities, and JBSS also relies on supplier self-certification through its Supplier Code of Conduct.
Certification
JBSS’s Supplier Code of Conduct sets forth standards and expectations for suppliers, vendors, subcontractors, and agents. Suppliers are expected to have management systems in place to support compliance with the Code of Conduct and all applicable laws and regulations.
In signing the Supplier Code of Conduct, suppliers self-certify that they are and will remain in compliance with relevant provisions regarding human trafficking, child labor, wages, working hours, and related workplace standards.
Internal Accountability
JBSS maintains standards for business conduct and expects responsible, ethical behavior throughout its operations and relationships with suppliers and business partners.
Training
JBSS supports awareness of ethical and compliance responsibilities in relevant areas of the business and expects employees involved in supply-chain-related functions to uphold company standards and applicable legal obligations.
